Blast From The Past: Witch Costume

I´ve told you about Purim, the jewish version of Halloween that is celebrated in Israel every spring. In fourth grade (9 years old) I was dressed as a witch. Purim has always been my favorite holiday, and my mom happily helped me to construct an outfit each year. We mostly bought the supplies and didn´t make our own, but we knew how to combine things so that they looked interesting. Fourth grade was the time before Harry Potter was popular, if I remember correctly.

I was very excited to find these spider web tights and even wore them a bit when I began getting into goth when I was a teenager. Mom loved to keep all the past Purim accessories in the closet :)

My costumes got more dark and eventually more subculture related with the years. In my last 2 years of high school I was basically dressed as "myself" (since I wasn´t brave enough to dress goth everyday).

I can´t wait for Halloween this Autumn! Luckily Germany sort of celebrates it, and it is much more traditional than Purim, which is basically has nothing to do with the dead or dark aesthetics.

    That's a cute costume. I went out as a witch so many times for Halloween. I'm so excited that Halloween is almost here!! I'm going to put out all my fall/Halloween decor soon. :)

      and those Halloween sales! hope they will have them in Germany too, I want to decorate with some bats

    This is the best thing ever! I envy your costume ability. I was always so lazy (okay, I still am) with costumes. I was always that one person invited to a party who didn't dress up. It's lame!

      But now you can hit the streets with cool outfits, it´s better than doing it once a year ;)

    Aww, that's adorable! I went as a witch for more than a few years as well, though I'm struggling to come up with something this year. Liking the boots you're wearing.

    I went as a witch two years ago and went as a forest fae last year...I have no idea what I'm doing this year. Are you and Boris doing a couple costume? I've long given up doing that...my husband loves masquerade masks and goes as a masquerade goer every single year.

      We never did couple costuming, except for once in a party with a victorian theme, and because I didn´t like the theme we cross dressed. I should post about it if I haven´t already, I looked horrific trying not to wear feminine makeup XD
