New hair color due to Henna fail

So I was all about letting my natural hair color grow, expecting that dying my roots with henna will make my natural hair look slightly more reddish and make the bleach leftovers a lot darker. This was my second henna coat (end of March), and well- it failed:

This is what the henna did to my roots: absolutely nothing. Don´t know if it was the type of henna I was using, but I was disappointed. The bleached parts look exactly the same as before, when I thought that henna should intensify the color with the applications. Ah well...

I have been thinking of going dark colors again, so I said fuck it and tried to mix 2 box dyes, a dark brown and dark plum.
The result turned to be quite interesting, and somewhat close to my natural hair color. It was a lot more purple in the beginning and is now slowly washing out as expected and looks more mahogany (eww, I hate mahogany hair) at the moment. I have been getting a lot of compliments on my hair because of the unspecific shade, so I guess that´s a yay!

Uncertain about how it turned out, I ended up loving it. I just missed dark hair so much and it´s just so easy to keep up with. Here are some pictures featuring different lighting:

This is basically me going back to my 17 year old self. I feel so much in my own skin! Plus brown hair + all brown makeup is my new favorite thing.

So much for the hair front. Sorry for lack of posting, life has been hectic ever since the semester has begun. The highlight of it has to be Polish class though, and I am killing it if I do say so myself!

  2. I think it looks nice. I've been struggling to like my own brown hair, and this post is kind of inspiring me to like it

  4. The colour and the cut look awesome on you! In my opinion, it looks even better that when you were blonde! It's more mysterious in a way. Plus, it will be easier to let your natural hair grow out now.

  6. The hair color works, Maria. It kept the dark hues and even intensified them by contrast, while giving your hair a bit more hue. This has been executed with great effect. What matters though is your personality. It's all about how you carry this new style of yours. Good luck!

  7. I've never been to Supercuts but have had bad if not worse at higher end salons. I once has my stylist I'd been seeing for close to a year shave all my hair off. True story. Didn't see another hair stylist for close to 3 years. I finally found one and was seeing her twice a week for 2 years for blowouts. She had done a bayalage in January that was amazing. Had one scheduled for September and she died my hair orange! This was a person who knew me and my hair very well since she had been the only person maintains my hair for two years, twice a week and still messed it up. I got a refund and never went back. Always speak up no matter what type of place you go to. I'm still on the hunt for a new salon because I've always had someone take care of it because I can't deal with doing it myself.
