My Favorite Internet Memes

I love the internet. We all do. Internet is where very important things in my life happen, may it sound tragic or not. I socialize there, I laugh there, I study there, I fill there my head with new random knowledge I wouldn't find anywhere else, I express myself there, I orientate myself with it, I listen to music there, I find closure for my childhood trauma of not having my own room as a kid + teenager by creating blogs/ profiles on web communities and therefore let my soul find peace again, there.... and the list is obviously endless.

But there is this thing that we all as a society fear off, is internet making us stupider and lazier, or bringing false values into our lives that we find super important but are actually "fake" because they are not essentially [nor physically] a part of our living world.
One of these things is the presence of internet jokes, like fail videos, games, and memes, that when looked upon arose a ton of emotion, but practically meaningless.
Well guess what? I'm crazy about those kind of things.

I love memes, not because it's a stupid picture/ cartoon that everyone can understand whatever the context it's being brought to or the language we speak, but because they are so meaninglessly hilarious.
Think about it, the pictures that we call memes, that are popping in almost every facebook conversation [and therefore making it two times funnier] won't even exist if the internet had never been invented.
But what I like most about memes if not their catchyness, but how highly creative the people who made them are. Even the simplest mobile photos can easily become popular and "catch up", making other people want to do the "same trick where you don't see whom the heads belong to when a couple is being photographed while embracing each other in a bad perspective".

Here I shall present a few of my favorite memes, some may not only be in English. Hope you'll enjoy! :)

Let's start with the classics:
Me Gusta

Me Gusta is very simple, you don't need to understand much [well, as far as memes could get...]. You can easily relate to any situation Me Gusta is brought in, and the various face adaptations like Robert Smith are hilarious!

Bad Luck Brian

This meme is pretty cruel, considering my well experience with bullying + how it is to awkward. But only by looking at the poor guy you ask yourself if the picture is too good to be true, and then you can't stop laughing. What makes this one so funny is the mere idea behind it that makes it so unfortunate each time! XD

Face Swapping:

There's not a lot to explain here. It's a hilarious idea and it's surreal!

And moving on to newer ones,
Pinterest Fail

What I love about this one is that people actually can laugh themselves, and I found a whole website dedicated to Pinterest fails where people not only post their fails but give advice on what they would do differently next time they try to pull the craft off. I find the food fails especially hilarious.

Wat

There is also a Russian equivalent:

Lol Jesus

In The Way Guy

This is just so clever! The mass humiliation you get for ruining a proposal picture!

Before I introduce you to my favorite meme, I would like to share some Russian ones that maybe a few of my readers are familiar with :)

Безысходность - Despair
This is basically a meme combining cultural figures such as cartoon characters, tv celebrities and what not, black and white + forest paintbrush and you get your somewhat gothic meme, portraying the most naiive characters in a very dark and depressive way. Also the possible usage of dust in products such as cigarettes or chewing gum.

"Help Dora to find the meaning of Life".

"Will not save."

Показалось - Seemed like...
Your typical perspective tricks, but somehow in Russian it looks funnier.

Seemed like... - what did it seem like?

And alas, my favorite meme of all time:
Doge

Well, I had much fun doing this post! ;)
I hope you've enjoyed it, and please do share your favorite memes! You can also do a post about it that can be fun too :)
I know there are quite a lot goth memes out there, but I don't know how they're called so I couldn't find much. Well, maybe next time I'll do an alternative meme post, of punk, goth and metal memes!

Have a great misty weekend!

The Wings Of Desire Concert Outfit

I've felt [and feeling] rather nu/ pastel goth lately and have decided to dress a bit differently for Boris' last concert:

The fishnet shirt and the skirt were a nice finding at the local outlet store [C&A] they were a bit above my usual price but I just had to get it. The outfit was very comfortable!
Although I've wanted to crimp my hair again I ended up not having time [nor patience] so I've made a bun [and decorated it with  black rose hair clips] that's untangled itself to a ponytail. My hair is not too long for making nice looking hair buns, not to mention I am crappy when it comes to hair does.

Boris' outfit:

He's styled himself, as previously said :) I always forget to diy this vest of his, it's Pink Floyd patches are not enough!

Overall, and as I've forced you to notice, I'm having quite the pastel mood raping the blog recently.
The reason to this is because it's this time again when I feel that my style + style preferences are changing and I want to try new things and experiment with outfits, and bring other alternative or fashionable elements to my outlook. I don't have the money nor the will to switch my entire close to pastel, nor would I dress 100% pastel, but something in me wants to have baby pinks items and glitter here and there. It will probably wear off pretty soon, so bare the lilac explosion with me ;)
It would be even a better reason to go back to the black and deathrock stuff, but I'm quite tired of it to be honest.

Also, if I remember my teenage self correctly, I've always thought it was cool to dress the complete opposite from the music you hear. That way you would surprise people by braking the stereotype! One of my favorite thing, I should definitely dedicate a post to the "breaking the stereotype" theme...

And for last, me doing something appropriate for a change:

The Wings Of Desire Concert Video!

I had lots of fun helping and documenting Boris' first ever concert in Berlin with his post punk project, The Wings Of Desire.
It was the main reason Boris [and I] wanted to move to Berlin- it is to make music and live the scene.
The concert was more of a "friend gig" because it was held in a really small pub, had to be quiet because of the neighbors around and because it was Boris' first entry and he was on his own, about 10 people came.

But you see, this was exactly the opposite from when Boris did concerts in Israel. Back then, when the number of people in the audience outnumbered the one person on stage I would sigh in relief. And when the gig would be over I would become very anxious and angry at the world, because in a small [old school]gothic-sunbculturally deserted place like Israel, even your "alternative" friends who've cried that there had been nothing interesting ever happening in your city, never came. And after the gig I would have absolutely no enthusiasm in making future concerts, because there was almost zero feedback from human beings. Almost.

But this time, even though there weren't a lot of people, the atmosphere was great. Boris made a very good performance [slightly awkward in the beginning as expected, but very very powerful and charismatic towards the end] and everyone said they liked it. I felt like thanking everyone personally a thousand times for coming, because it wasn't taken for granted AT ALL! Not to mention we stayed at the pub for like 4 hours afterwards just chatting with everyone. The after-feeling was amazing. I couldn't recall another The Wings Of Desire concert that's left so much hope and happiness in my heart.

Here are a few pics that I've made.

Outfit post next time, don't worry...

Boris has styled himself, by the way. He even told me what makeup he wanted :)

I've also made a video of 2 songs, one of which we've decided to post, despite planning on keeping it a super awesome rare footage for centuries later [silly us] XP
Alas:

Divers.

I really love his performance, the lightning was great and added a lot to the video.
I am still excited that things have went so good. Oh and note, I am not the official part of the band, I am only head of visual crap, because I really love helping Boris with his music, and I love bringing weird ideas to the stage! I already have a set for the next gig on the 29th!

Please sure your support by liking The Wings Of Desire Facebook Page, because we're traumatized from lack of support back in Israel we need to know you're there with us! :D
Have a great week everyone!

Blast From The Past - First ever party

It was about time since I've been thinking of doing these series of posts.
I thought this might be interesting for you guys to see how my style developed, and to amuse yourselves at awkward babybat pictures...
When I think about it, if I would to read a blog of a goth person, I would have been very curious to see the different reincarnations of this person's outlook :)

To start the series I present to you a picture from the first party I've ever went to:

I think I was 18 or 19. I basically have everything from this outfit brought with me to Berlin, except for the tank top. I went to a "rock and metal" [aka, mainstream teenage music night] party with a girl who went to army with me. Yes, this was army time, a very bad time...

That party did however change my view on alternative things, and having fun with a friend to super loud [heard a million times] music made me very very happy. I've also felt like a grownup, going to a different city for a party, x-tremmmeee!

Fun Fact: this was the first and last time I went to the infamous club in Tel Aviv, the Mosad [a huge 3 floor venue serving "alternative" parties since I don't know how long]. Why? Because I since then believe that the goth scene in Israel doesn't begin and end with Tel Aviv. Also, post punk was the last thing played in that party, and I got so terribly drunk, the way back home was filled with "surprising" visits as public toilets. Not pretty, certainly not....

Till next time, be safe!

7 years anniversary + upcoming The Wings Of Desire Gig!

Haven't had time for blogging at all! Studying makes time disappear.

Today [November 10th] Boris and I have celebrated 7 years together. It was such a romantic and cold day. We went to stuff ourselves with sushi and then went back home, and Boris cut my hair tips XD
I thank each day that Boris is by my side. Without him I wouldn't want to live or have the strength to fight for my wishes to come true. Boris was my first wish to come true after all. And not all the relationship names such as "boyfriend" or "husband" could ever describe the deep connection I have to him.

We've also rehearsed for Boris' first gig in Berlin next Friday. He plays with playback on his laptop and I will click play and pause between the songs for him :)

I am so excited about the first ever gig!!! After such hard work at home I am sure he will be a blast on stage. I love the music and how it's fun and dark at the same time.
Here's a flier I've made for the show, going to print it tomorrow:

This will be the first of 3 gigs this month! It's crazy how things have speeded up ever since he's finished his new songs.
If some of you guys haven't checked The Wings Of Desire yet, please do! :)

Have a great week! I'll try to post more often!

Outfit + Face of the previous weekend + Unhappy Halloween!

It's this time of year again, spooky stuff filling the stores ready to be bought by alternative people hungry for dark cheap things, people wearing fake blood upon themselves, children [apparently even in Berlin] trick or treating.....
And I don't give a shit about it.
How so?
Well you see, back in Israel we don't celebrate Halloween [ehm jewish country] and we have a jewish equivalent for a "costume holiday" that is Halloween, which is celebrated in spring and was probably the only jewish holiday that I loved. So seeing people carving pumpkins and wearing dark costumes doesn't make my heart beat faster. I've never celebrated Halloween nor decorated my house especially, because I think I just don't get the point. I wore gothy outfits on our "jewish Halloween" so many times I began wearing them each day, and that was satisfying :)

So with holiday spirit being ruined I shall share here the "oh so creative" makeup I did last weekend including the somewhat [long not seen] sexy outfit.

I saw this picture on Tumblr a few days before and it made me miss the ornaments and shapes I used to do with eyeliner back in my babybat days. So I figures a new experiment will be fun.

I know I didn't draw the egyptian eye as well as this girl in the picture, but I was really happy how it turned out!

Here is the makeup in color:

I swear my hair is not as orange anymore, however the camera always seem to ass color to it.
Makeup: Catrice Photo Finish Makeup [it's amazing!!] -cruelty free-
Concealer: Jade [Israeli brand] -cruelty free-
Powder + Mascara: Manhattan
Eyebrows + Eyeliner: Catrice Gel Liner
Egyptian eye: Manhattan liquid eyeliner pen -cruelty free-
Eyeshadow: from a Careline palette of mine [Israeli brand] -cruelty free-
Lips: chapstick + black lipstick, random brand.

You know what the craziest part was? I didn't use purple eyeshadow. I used LIGHT BROWN! It must have so much purple undertones in it it looks purple on pictures. Surreal. Eyeshadow is beautiful in natural light though, very beige-brown-ish.

I've also tried to crimp my hair with a second hand hair crimper I've purchased last month and finally got the time to use it! Well, the hair crimping kind of failed, because I didn't have enough patience to do it in layers, and the waves disappeared after 2 minutes. I should have looked up a tutorial, silly me..

Moving along,
It has been some time since I got the package from my mother, sending me a ton of clothes and my beloved autumn mantle to keep me warm. I kindly asked her to look for a pair of knee highs and a garter belt, which she did and I thank her so much for making this look come true:

everything you see here is either DIY or second hand. Sorry to lazy for descriptions.

I've used to dress like this more often back in Israel, when I used to think goth was about being undressed. I've waited to re-ware this outfit for so long now!!!

With that being done I wish you all a crazy and morbid Halloween, drink like pigs and get laid. I will get back to my essay about theories and hypotheses in the social sciences [kind of contradicts the outfit, doesn't it?].
